Dr. Konrad Adenauer, the West German Chancellor, celebrated his 85th birthday Jan 5 at Bonn, West Germany. He went to church in the morning; and then procession of people called at the Palais Schaumburg to congratulate him.
He inspected members of the Border Police and the Bundeswehr (Federal Defense Force) ... and met a group of orphans who had came to wish him a happy birthday. The Chancellor returned the Compliment with a bar of chocolate for each child. Dr. Adenauer's own grandchildren presented him with a cushion.
