  • Description

A record 220 exhibitors will participate in an agricultural and industrial exhibition to coincide with the tenth anniversary of Zambia's independence in October.

Extensive preparations have begun at the showgrounds in Lusaka for Tiyende Pamodzi 1974 - the "Lets move Upwards" or "Progress" exhibition.

Object of the show is to illustrate the progress and development of Zambia in all aspects of manufacturing, agriculture and commerce during the first decade of independence.

It's also hoped this yea's exhibition will provide a launching pad for a national show that may in future be regarded as the Central African Show and comparable to other international exhibitions.

To house this year's show, re-development plans include 24 new pavilions, a permanent building and design centre, a semipermanent tourism and natural resources leisure area and a special picnic reserve.

At least 10 foreign Heads of State are expected to be present when President Kaunda officially opens the show on 23 October. Exhibits will then be open to the public for four days.
