    FIFTY-NINE TEACHERS FROM DENMARK AND NORWAY HAVE ARRIVED IN ZAMBIA RECENTLY TO BEGIN WORK IN THE COUNTRY. THE TEACHERS SPENT LAST FRIDAY (22 AUGUST) TOURING THE CAPITAL CITY, LUSAKA AND ON SATURDAY, (23 AUGUST), ATTENDED A FAMILIARISATION COURSE AT THE UNIVERSITY BUILDING IN LUSAKA.

    DURING THEIR TOUR OF LUSAKA, THE TEACHERS VISITED THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY BUILDING; THE STATE HOUSE; HOLY CROSS CATHEDRAL AND TOOK A LOOK AT THE LUBARMA MARKET IN THE CITY.

    YESTERDAY (SATURDAY), THE TEACHERS RECEIVED FAMILIARISATION LECTURES ON THE ZAMBIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM FROM MR B. GAGNE WHO EXPLAINED THE VARIOUS TYPES OF COURSES TAUGHT IN ZAMBIAN SCHOOLS AND THE FORMS OF EXAMINATIONS GIVEN TO ZAMBIAN STUDENTS.

    A ZAMBIAN MINISTRY OF EDUCATION SPOKESMAN SAID THE SCANDANAVIAN TEACHERS WOULD WORK IN ZAMBIA FOR TWO YEARS OR MORE AND WOULD BE TEACHING IN SECONDARY OR PRIMARY SCHOOLS AS WELL AS IN TEACHER TRAINING COLLEGES AND WORKING IN ADULT EDUCATION COURSES.
