  • Description

A forum sponsored by the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the CPC was held on the afternoon Sept to welcome the three released personal on special amnesty, Chang Hai-shang, Yang Nan-tsun, and Chao Yi-hsueh, who have just returned to Peking from Hong Kong. Present on the occasion were leading members of the department Liu Yu-fa, and Li Chin-teh; leading members of other departments concerned, including Lo Ching-chang, Chu Mu-chin, Shin Yi-chin and Li Chu-sheng; and personages of various circles, including Liu Fei, Chien Chang-chao, Liu Yun-sheng, Hou Ching-ju, Cheng Tung-kuo, Tu Yu-ming, Sung Hsi-lien, Huang Wei and Wen Chiang.

Li Chin Teh extended a warm welcome to Chang Hai-shang, Yang Nan-tsun and Chao Yi-hsueh. "Because of strictures and obstructions by the Chiang clique, "he said, "it has not been possible for the three released personnel to proceed to Taiwan Province to join their families. "We will make appropriate arrangements for their work and their livelihood and they may still go to Taiwan Province in future when conditions permit.'
In his speech, Chang Hai-shang recalled that they arrived Hongkong last April in the belief that they could shortly proceed to Taiwan. "But we waited and waited and to this day there is still no news." He said that since permission to go to Taiwan was not forthcoming, they also asked time and again for their families to come and see them in Hongkong. This request likewise came to nothing. "This is indeed a case of forbidding a person to go home to join his family, "he said.

Chang Hai-shang continued that they deeply realised the magnanimity and wisdom of the policies of Chairman Mao and the Chinese Communist Party and that they were keenly aware of the warm care and attention of the socialist motherland.

Liu Fei in his speech indignantly denounced the Chiang clique for refusing to permit the 10 released personnel to go to Taiwan and for causing the death of Chang Tieh-shih by persecution.

Other speakers at the forum, Liu Yun-sheng, Tu Yu-ming, Huang Wei and Wen Chiang pointed out that the refusal of the Chiang clique to permit the 10 released personnel to go to Taiwan Province merely revealed how atrocious, weak and isolated was the reactionary rule of Chiang Ching-kuo. They voiced their determination to contribute their share to the liberation of Taiwan and the unification of the motherland.
