    Background: President Ngouabi of the Congo People's Republic started his Eastern European tour in Budapest on July 9. He offered Hungarian leaders raw materials in return for help training Congolese young people
    The President, who had talks with Hungary's Communist leader Janos Kadar and Prime Minister Jeno Fock, is anxious to boost trade exchanges and strengthen his country's economy.

    He also discussed the possibility of Hungarian aid for the management of water resources in the Congo and development of new farming techniques. Timber, potash and sugar are among the raw materials Congo hopes to trade in exchange.

    Hungary's President Losonczi, the Congolese ambassador and a guard of honour met the President at the airport.

    President Ngouabi's party moved on to Rumania on july 10. At the end of the three day visit there Rumania Deputy Premier Ion Patan and M. Justin Lekounzou, Congolese Minister of Mines, signed an official economic cooperation agreement.

    Rumania's President Ceausescu and the Congolese leader issued a declaration saying both countries were determined to expand economic cooperation, trade exchanges and closer collaboration in education, science and culture.

    The Congolese delegation then left for Bulgaria on the last stage of their tour.

    President Ngouabi is anxious to increase trade and strengthen his country's economy. He talked with Hungary's Communist leader Janos Kadar and Prime Minister Jeon Fock about the possibility of Hungary helping to manage the Congo's water resources and develop new farming techniques.

    The Congo have raw materials like timber, sugar and potash to offer in exchange. When the President's delegation moved on to Rumania two days later the visit finished with an agreement.

    It was signed by Rumanian Deputy premier Ion Patan and M. Justin Lekounzou, Congolese Minister of Mines. The two Presidents also issued a declaration that their countries were determined to expand economic cooperation, trade exchanges and closer collaboration in education, science and culture. The Congolese party visited Bulgaria after Hungary and Rumania.
