  • Description

In Brazzaville, Congolese women have rallied to the support of President Marien Ngouabi's government and have bitterly denounced leaders of last month's abortive coup. On Wednesday (March 8th), the country's only women's organisation, the Congo Women's Revolutionary Union, celebrated the seventh anniversary of its foundation with a packed meeting in the capital.

    M. Pierre Nze, the Political Bureau member responsible for the organisation, called on the women to denounce anyone attempting to divide the people and overthrow the revolution. The women responded by applauding calls or heavy punishment of alleged leaders of the attempted coup.
