Background: A mass wedding ceremony was held at Rhodes in the Greek Islands, Nov 15, on the celebrations for the Island's Patron Saint, St. Constantine the Hydrean. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of the City of Rhodes and Admiral Brown, NATO Commander-in-Chief of southern Europe.
Before the wedding 26 couples walked through the streets in procession to the church. Here Admiral Brown was best man for all the 26 couples. All but two of the couples were Greek Orthodox the others being Moslems.
Religious leaders of both faiths attended the ceremony and blessed brides and their grooms after the wedding. Admiral Brown is a holder of the City of Rhodes Gold Medal.
He later attended the wedding reception given for the couples by the city officials. Admiral Brown also took part in a display of dancing at the reception before flying back to his headquarters in Naples.
