SYNOPSIS: The fire started in what is called the "cracker" area of the plant, where they have all the installations. The morning maintenance shift didn't notice an oil leak which caught fire. Shortly after, the first oil tank exploded triggering flames and causing heavy damage.

Husky's firefighters moved in backed by men from Chevron and Phillips Oil. Davis County where the refinery is located, sent in every available unit. Later more men and fire engines arrived from Salt Lake City. They feared that the nearby tanks of high octane fuel would explode.

Streams of water and foam were used to keep the tanks cool, but the firemen succeeded and none of the tanks exploded. No one was hurt.
