Libyan Head of State Colonel Muammar Gaddafi arrived today (Tuesday) in Cairo to join Presidents Anwar Sadat of Egypt, Jaafar El Nimeiry of the Sudan, and Hafez Al-Assad of Syria, to start talks on the Middle East crisis. The meeting is the Fifth Summit Session of the Tripoli Pact States since it was set up in December 1969 -- and the second since Syria joined last year.
Colonel M. Gaddafi was due to arrive yesterday (Monday), but did not, reportedly because his aircraft was turned back due to a sandstorm. However, Libya's Deputy Premier, Major Abdel Salam Jalloud, did arrive yesterday - just before the arrival of President Al-Assad. It is the arrivals of Major Jalloud and President Al-Assad that we show in our film, which was taken yesterday.
The arrival of President El Nimeiry was serviced yesterday as PROD. NO. 3992/71: U.A.R. PRESIDENT SADAT GREETS PRESIDENT EL-NIMEIRY AT START OF ARAB SUMMIT MEETING & HAS TALKS WITH MR. BAHI LADGHAM.
After holding preliminary talks yesterday with President Al-Assad and El Nimeiry, the Egyptian Head of State, Dr. Sadat, held a reception for the delegates. This too is on our film
