Background: Top fashion designer christian dior launched his new Autumn-winter collection for 1970 in Paris this week with midi and maxi lengths dominating. Knees will definitely be under cover this coming season.
The main characteristics of Dior's latest collection, apart from the length of the skirts, are capes which feature strongly for day or evening wear; tight fitted sleeves and bodices flowing out to graceful skirts, and trouser suits will still remain very much in the foreground of the fashion scene.
For glamorous day wear Dior has designed a maroon leather coat lavishly trimmed with fox fur. Another new feature of the autumn-winter fashion scene, pantaloons, in beige jersey, are revealed under the coat with matching tight fitted leather boots.
Quilted fabrics are also put to use by Dior in a maxi coat of red and black. He matches it with black crepe culottes finishing at the new gaucho length to show off a pair of leather boots.
Satin for evening or day wear is back again and in maxi length Dior has turned back to the styles of the 30's for a rose floral outfit with fitted bodice and full flowing skirt.
Dior has made full use of a wide range of fabrics for his latest collection and ??? reappears in a full length evening coat of mauve, blue and gold trimmed with Canadian mink. The coat opens to reveal a classic maxi dress of mauve crepe.
