Background: Crack French horsemen of the Seventh Spahi Regiment gave a tattoo in Copenhagen July 1 - by royal command... of Princess Benedikte, a keen horsewoman. With her at the tattoo were her parents King Fredrik and Queen Ingrid and the heir to the throne Princess Margrethe. French Ambassador Christian Fouchet greeted the royal family.
The Spahis - the last horse regiment in France - have their base a Senlis near Paris. Some of the Regiment's 67 riders fought in World War Two. The first Spahi Regiment began in 1872.
The Regiment return to Paris for the July 14 Bastille parade. In August they visit England.
