    A PROCESSION WAS HELD ROUND THE TEMPLE IN WHICH 25 BUDDHISTS WORE GOLDEN MASKS IN THE BELIEF THAT BY WEARING THEM, THEY WILL NOT SUFFER SICKNESS FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE.

    MOST WORSHIPPERS IN JAPAN ARE BUDDHISTS BY FAITH.BUDDHISM FIRST ENTERED THE COUNTRY OVER 14 CENTURIES AGO WHEN KING KUDARA OF KOREA.TROUBLED BY CIVIL WAR, LOOKED TO JAPAN FOR HELP, AND THE KING PRESENTED BUDDHIST SCRIPTURES AND IMAGES TO THE EMPEROR.

    THE FESTIVAL WAS HELD IN THE HOTTEST SEASON IN JAPAN.IT WAS FIRST CELEBRATED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEVENTEENTH CENTURY.
