Background: The people of the Sudan were locking with great eagerness to the journey of President Abboud to attend the second Arab Summit Conference held in Alexandria.
Large crowds gathered at Khartoum International Airport to bid the President farewell before his departure to the United Arab Republic to represent the Sudan in this conference. His excellency was accompanied by Major General Hassan Bashir Nasr, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Sayed Ahmed Kheir, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Members of the Supreme Councillor for the Armed Forces, Mr. Chief Justice, Head of the Central Council, their Excellencies the Ministers, Senior Officials of the Armed Forces and Senior Government Officials were present at the Airport to bid the Sudanese President their farewell. Large multitude of people were also present.
The plane of the President took off towards Alexandria. In Alexandria the Airport was decorated by the flags of the Arab Countries participating in the great conference. Large multitude of people gathered to be at the reception of the President.
President Nasser, Major General Abdel Hakim Amir, First Vice President, the Vice Presidents, the Head of the Nation's Council, the Prime Minister and his assistants Senior Military Commanders and Senior Officials proceeded to the plane of the President on its arrival at Alexandria.
Amidst the roaring cheers and clapping of the multitudes the two Arab President embraced each other. The two Presidents then headed to the main Platform where they received the salute and inspected the guard of honour.
Two young came forward and presented wreaths of roses to the Presidents.
The Sudanese President then greeted the Important Personalities that were on his reception, Senior Arab Military Officers, Members of the Sudan Embassy and of the Sudanese Community in the United Arab Republic.
His Excellency then proceeded by car to the Palestine Hotel where he resided with the Sudan Delegation to the conference.
The President was cheered by the gathering crowds on all the roads by which he passed. Finally the procession arrived at the Hotel where His Excellency and the Sudan Delegation resided at the special Section prepared for them.
Before the conference convened the Arab Kings and Presidents paid visits to the Sudanese President. His Excellency received President Sellal of Yemen, the Vice President and the members of the Yemen delegation. They exchanged friendly talks.
His Excellency then received President Amin El Haffiz of Syria and members of the Syrian delegation. The meeting was attended by Major General Hassan Bashir Nasr, Member of the Sudan delegation by and Mr. Ahmed Kheir, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
His Majesty King Hussein of Jordan also paid a visit to the President. They spend a good time in friendly talks.
The President made many contacts with the Arab King and Presidents to unify the Arab Strength. He visited President Ben Bella of Algeria who warmly received him. The two great Leaders embraced each other in a warm welcome and exchanged friendly talks.
His Excellency then visited Prince Faisal of Saudi Arabia and members of the Saudi delegation and exchanged views.
After that His Excellency visited His Majesty King Hussein of Jordan at his apartment. he had a warm reception and his Majesty thanked the President for his great efforts in bringing close to each other the various points of view of the various delegates.
On the conference day the main Hall of El Muntazah Palace was decorated by the flags of the Arab countries and all preparations were made for the historic moment
The Arab Kings and Presidents started the eternal meeting that unified their word and people. At the opening of the conference President Nasser gave an outstanding speech on this great historic occasion. The Press, Cinema and Television recorded the outstanding event where the Arab Leaders met in their way to achieve the goals of the nation in the Liberation Palestine.
