    The survey contract for the Ivory Coast's second major hydroelectric dam was awarded to an American company. Kaiser Engineering, on Tuesday (March 5) during an official signing ceremony in Abidjan.

    Signing for the Ivory Coast were the Minister of Economics and Finance, Henri Konan Bedie, and the Minister of Planning, Mohamed Diawara. Signing for Kaiser were the company Vice President R. A. Lowell and the U.S. Ambassador to the Ivory Coast, John Root.

    The survey will be carried out on the River Bandama at Taabo near to the country's other major hydroelectric plant, Kossou I. The new dam, Kossou II, is planned to produce one hundred million kilowatts of power by 1979.

    Three other dams are planned which with the Kossou dams, will supply the whole of the country's electricity.
