President Nixon of the United States began his two-day Bermuda summit talks with British Prime Minister Heath on Monday (December 20) with the dramatic announcement that he had removed the ten percent import surcharge on goods into the U.S. The surcharge was imposed in August under wide-sweeping economic reforms in an effort to preserve the value of the dollar.
