    Well known athletes from many countries were present at Malmoe, Sweden, June 7, for an international athletics meeting in the stadium built for the world soccer championships. All members of the Soviet Olympics team for running and jumping events were competing.

    An exciting 100 metres was won by a German runner, Manfred Germar, with a time of 10.2 secs. - 0.1 secs outside the world record.

    The 5,000 metres was won by USSR'S Efimov - his time: 14min 21 secs - just over 1 min. outside the world record.

    Russia scored again in putting the shot - winner Lipis setting up a new Russian record of 18.05 metres. Sweden's Bo Axelsson had a throw of 16.22 metres.

    Moens from Belgium ran strongly in the 800 metres to become a clear - and popular - winner, passing the post at 1min 50 secs. Second was Paul Schmidt, Germany, and third, Sweden's Tommy Holdestrand.

    Swedish champion Dan Waren, paced in the first lap by his countryman Ebbe Anderson, afterwards went into the lead to win the 1,500 metres with a time of 3 min. 49.3 secs.
