    Singapore Prime Minister, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew was in Brussels on Monday (October 17) for talks with European Economic Community leaders. During his visit he met Belgian Premier Leo Tindemans and also had talks with EEC President Roy Jenkins.

    SYNOPSIS: Mr. Lee was visiting the Community headquarters on his way home from the United States and Canada. Trade was to look high on the agenda for his various talks here.

    The Singapore Premier met Viscount Etienne Davignon of Belgium, the Commissioner from Internal Market and Industrial Affairs. Singapore wants freer access to the Common Market for its textile and electronic products. Mr. Lee issued no official statement but a Singapore spokesman later described the talks as being of a general nature. The spokesman did disclose, however, that negotiations between the Common Market and Singapore are going on at a lower level.

    Mr. Lee met Commissioner Vice-President Wilhelm Haferkamp of West Germany, who is responsible for the Community External Relations. Mr. Lee has been pleased with his country's economic progress. He has said that, in its first decade after independence in 1965, Singapore's gross product rose from 1.14 billion dollars to 3.29 billion dollars..
