Canada's win puts it into the best-of-three playoff against Czechoslovakia for the championship. The U.S.A. and Finland are the other two countries taking part in the six-nation event.

"The puck comes back to point to Martinec. He'll shoot, and the screen shot saved by the net-minder and it goes all the way through and (indistinct) has it back now to Martinec and Martinec shoots. And it goes all the way through (indistinct) picked it out of the air, a high stick padded it in, but I don't think that we will see it on the replay. Salming taking the shot. It is a very hard shot and goaltender loses sight of it. Right again and it is Stoberg, Stoberg inside his own zone, sending it out to centre Erikkson, is over the line, dropping it back, over to Stoberg and its a goal. A big wide pass to....and the tender didn't spot the puck. Down at the point on this side and it's centre ice, over to Salming, Salming to Erikkson, ahead, over the line, here is Salming going a good one and he scores."

"Inside the line and right to Laflour, guy Laflour number 10, Guy Laflour back to Potuin and he scores. Puck to the point, here we have Guy Laflour, gains control, back to Potuin, he keeps that puck nice and low. The Soviets come racing back, Alexandrov, in over the line, fakes the shot, bounces it back to, here is Lutchenko, his shot is bounced back, and Alexandrov scores. Outside the blue line, Hull has the show, Perault grabs, back to Peron, in to the corner and out to Hull, Hull scores. Peron put that puck back to Perault and up to Bobby Hull to score. A long shot right off the target, two minutes and 38 seconds remain of the play, in behind the Soviet goal, Barber right across, marvellous shot and Tretiaic stopped that, Barber will try again, gets it back to LaPointe, he lets it go."
