Background: A two-day international athletic meeting between Ghana and the Ivory Coast was held last weekend. (14 and 15 September).
The meeting, in the Ivorian capital, Abidjan, was part of a competition in the seventh annual games between the two countries. Other sports included football, basketball and boxing.
Most of the track events were run on Saturday (14 September) while heats for the field events continued. Both countries had a similar number of wins in the men's events but the Ghanaians dominated the women's events. They won first and second places in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 1500 races.
The Ghanaian star, Alice Annuh enjoyed a successful day. She won both the 100m and 200m women's events.
The Ivory boast achieved success in the 400m mens race when Degnan Kablan won narrowly form Albert Nurvkpeza of Ghana.
