No banners and no welcome arches and no clappings from the local people who are not interested in the visit of the Chinese leader.

    Marshall chen yi drove 40 kilometres on the newly constructed Kathjandu-Kodari link of the Lhassa-Kathmandu Highway, being constructed under the Chinese aid, to have a look on the road up to Khopasi.

    Background: Chinese Vice-Premier and foreign Minister Marshall Chen-Yi visited Nepal for 5 days from February 28th to March 3 on invitation of Nepal Govt to discuss increased development aid to Nepal. China except for helping the construction of 114 mile Kathmandu kodari link on Kathmandu lhassa highway has been failing to complete its other assured aid project which included construction of a cement factory and a paper mill. It also withdrew from helping nepal in construction of an irrigation project and road in south nepal and both the projects were taken over by India. During his 5-day stay in Kathmandu, the Chinese vice-premier tried his best exhert its influence over Nepal without much result and left nepal without creating much of interest.
