Early summer sunshine, with temperatures reaching the 70s, was just the weather for most of London Zoo's inmates, May 15. But while they snoozed in the sun the chimpanzees were very much awake for the first tea-party of the season. Three newcomers to the Zoo made their debut at this party - Beebee, Lou and the deb's heart-throb, Charlie.
The table was set and out they came, waited on by Zoo Keeper George. The tea was brewed and the party got under way. London Zoo kitchen had prepared the usual superb specialities served at such parties - lettuce, tomatoes, oranges and nuts.
All was well until Fifi - she's so rude - started picking rather large morsels from Jubi's plate. Order must be restored to a table of such High Society, so Keeper George intervened politely pointing out to Fifi the errors of her ways.
But that wasn't all. Some impolite members drank from the tea-pot and not their cups. The host was no better, balancing two cups on his arm. That's enough to make gentle-folk drop dead on the spot!
