The co???nsion was the arrival of the new Ambassador Extraordinary from Algeria, Mr. Ahmed Hamid Bensalem, who was visiting the Brazzaville's Palace of Friendship to present his credentials to President Ngouabi.
In a speech before the presentation, the new Ambassador declared himself delighted with his posting. There were, he said, many deep ideological ties between the two countries. Both Peoples also shared many similar objectives. On the international front, M. Bensalem spoke of the necessity of liberating all Africans, both politically and economically.
In reply, President Ngouabi spoke in praise of the Algerian struggle to preserve national independence, while at the same loading the fight against imperialism -- a struggle which both countries shared. The Congolese head of state remarked of the high esteem in which he held the Algerian leader, President Houari Boumedienne.
