    Motor racing...and Rupert Keegan launched himself back into contention for the Aurora AFX British formula One Championship title at Donnington Park on Sunday (24 June). The race was the halfway stage of the series. Emilio de Villota of Spain threw the battle into the open after winning the last race in Zaadvoort, Holland, on the fourth of June -- so Sunday's event was critical De Villota arrived at the finish just nine seconds after Keegan.

    SYNOPSIS: Keegan who comes from London had to win at Donnington to keep his championship hopes alive. South Africa's Desire Wilson -- Formula One's only female competitor -- has driven her Tyrrel 008 to four third places and one fourth. She is always a contender for the top six places.

    But it was Spain's Emilio de Villota, in his Madom Lotus, that Rupert Keegan in his Charles Clowes Arrows had to beat.

    The cars line up at the start. the race was over fifty-two laps and covered a distance of 101-point-78 miles (approximately 161 kilometres).

    Going into the race Dublin's David Kennedy led the overall championship table in his wolfrace Wolf WR4, with thirty-eight points.

    But the real battle was between Keegan, ad de Villota. De Villota went into this race just four points ahead of Keegan and tied in second place with Guy Edwards, who drives Mopar Fittipaldi F5A.

    Belgian driver Bernard de Dryver a close contender throughout the race, finished third.

    And Desire Wilson also kept up the pace. But it was Rupert Keegan who took the winners flag.

    His nine second victory over de Villota puts him second in the Aurora table, just five points behind David Kennedy of Dublin.
