  • Description

Right and left-wing speakers on Sunday (24 October) harangued a crowd of more than 6,000 in London's Trafalgar Square at a rally organized in opposition to British entry into the European Common Market. The rally followed a march through the city by hundreds of banner-carrying demonstrators. The principal speakers included Members of Parliament from both the Conservative and Labour Parties, among them Socialist member, Mr. Michael Foot, who warned that a decision to enter the Market would be a minority one as far as the people of Britain were concerned. He insisted that the majority voice would have its way eventually.
