  • Description

Former Israeli Defence Minister, General Moshe Dayan, addressed a large pro-Israel rally in London on Sunday (30 May). An estimated 20,000 people attended the gathering, the largest display of support for Israel ever seen in Britain.

Before the rally, General Dayan released twelve pigeons as a peace gesture, each of the birds representing one of the twelve tribes of Israel. After the birds were released 3,000 young Jews and their supporters marched through some of London's streets to show their solidarity with Israel.

At the rally, held at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, General Dayan told the enthusiastic audience that this generation would not see the establishment of an Arab Kingdom in Jerusalem.

He said Israel was superior because what it wanted was to build, and what it enemies wanted was to destroy, and building is more powerful than destruction.
