    THE UNITED STATES AND SENEGAL SIGNED AN AID AGREEMENT, (TUESDAY, MARCH 17) WHICH WILL MEAN EXTRA SCHOOLS FOR MORE THAN TWO AND A HALF THOUSAND STUDENTS NEXT YEAR. THE SIGNING WILL GIVE SENEGAL FIVE NEW BUILDINGS INCLUDING LABORATORIES.

    THE AGREEMENT WAS SIGNED ON BEHALF OF SENEGAL BY THE COUNTRY'S FINANCE MINISTER, MR. JEAN COLLIN AND FOR THE UNITED STATES BY THE CHARGE D'AFFAIRES, MR. ALAN LUKENS. SOME OF THE FINANCING FOR THE SCHOOLS WILL COME FROM THE SALE OF LOCAL GRAIN WHICH WAS DEVELOPED WITH HELP FROM THE UNITED STATES DURING THE 1966 DROUGHT.

    THE THREE NEW SCHOOLS WILL BE.....THE JOHN. F. KENNEDY IN DAKAR, THE GASTON BERGER IN KOALACK AND THE ELL HADJ MALICK IN THIES.

    EARLIER PRESIDENT SENGHOR WAS PRESENT FOR THE FIRST ORDINARY SESSION OF THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL OF SENEGAL HELD IN DAKAR. DURING A SPEECH TO THE MEMBERS HE EXPRESSED HOPE THAT THEIR WORK WOULD REALIZE ALL THE AIMS OF THE COUNCIL. HE WAS WELCOMED TO THE MEETING BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL, MR. MAGATTE-LO.
