  • Description

North and South Korean Red-Cross officials negotiating the reunion of an estimated ten million Koreans separated since the Second World War, met for a second session in Seoul on Wednesday (13 Sept.). The first session war held in Pyongyang, the North Korean capital two weeks ago. The North Korean party was made up of seven delegates, seven advisers, 20 assistants and 20 journalists, and led by Mr. Kim Tae Hui, vice-Chairman of the central committee of the North Korean Red Cross. Wednesday's meeting was the only scheduled formal session in the south, although Red Cross officials were hopeful that further sessions could be arranged before the northern delegations's return at the weekend. The meeting was mainly confined to formal declarations of intent and a mutual pledging of continued efforts to achieve the humanitarian objective...as a first step towards eventual national unification.
