Background: In Brussels, Nov. 18, Dr. Albert Schweitzer received the prize of the Joseph Lemaire Foundation. He is the first person to be awarded the prize - memorial to the philanthropist Joseph Lemaire.
Guest of honour at the ceremony was Prince Albert of Liege, President of the Belgian Red Cross.
Before the presentation, an official of the well-known Belgian social welfare organisation the Prevoyance Sociale, M. Papart, praised Dr. Schweitzer for his great work at Lambarene, French Equitorial Africa, running a hospital for Africans.
Dr. Schweitzer, 1952 Nobel Peace Prize winner, will be returning soon to his patients. In January he will be 85-years-of-age.
