    Black Panther Leader Eldridge Cleaver and his wife Kathleen - accompanied by other members of the militant Black movement - have been in the People's Republic of the Congo since April 24, when they attended World Youth Day Against Colonialism. Since then he has been travelling throughout the country holding meetings with representatives of political, workers and youth organisations.

    Algiers-based Cleaver - who is campaigning for support of the Black Panthers among African leaders - was the guest of Congolese President Marian Ngouabi in Brazzaville on Monday, May 3.

    SYNOPSIS: The Presidential Residence in Brazzaville, the People's Republic of the Congo - where, on Monday, May 3, President Marian Ngouabi played host to a Black Panther delegation headed by Algiers-based Eldridge Cleaver and his wife Kathleen.

    Cleaver, who has been in Congo-Brazzaville since he attended World Youth Day Against Colonialism on April 24th, is accompanied by two members of the Panthers international relations department, Denise Oliver and Michael Cetewayo Tabor. The latter is also the leader of the East Coast branch of the militant movement.

    Ange Poungui, a member of the Political Bureau of the Congolese Labour Party, was also present when the Cleavers met President Ngouabi. Cleaver, who is campaigning for support of the Black Panthers among African leaders, has been travelling throughout the country holding meetings with representatives of several Congolese organisations. During his tour he has visited production units and had talks with workers and labour leaders. He has visited educational and youth groups - addressing them on the subject of the Black Panther movement and its aims. And he has held consultations with various political groups in search for public and moral support for the movement.
