The first of the main body of troops are leaving Kenya. The 2nd Bat. Scots?
The first of the main body of troops are leaving Kenya. The 2nd Bat. Scots Guards are due to leave by air for England tonight, together with their families. This is the real start of the 'run down' of British troops stationed in Kenya, and it will be completed by the 12th Dec. - one year after Kenya's independence. Leaving behind them will be one of the finest military barracks in the world, which has just been completed. Kahawa is a self contained town and it is believed that it will be converted into a technical train establishment when it is handed over to the Kenya Government on that date. It is part of the GBP60,000,000 grant that Britain made to Kenya some two months ago.
