HE BEAT THE WORLD NUMBER ONE AMATEUR, MANUEL SANTANA OF SPAIN, IN A DAVIS CUP MATCH IN MAY AND ONLY LAST WEEK DISPOSED OF THE AUSTRALIAN PROFESSIONAL, ROD LAVER. IN TODAY'S MATCH, HE AGAIN DISPLAYED HIS ASTONISHING AGILITY ON COURT BUT HAD A BAD LAPSE IN THE SECOND SET, WHICH CURTIS WON 6-3. HOWEVER THE DUTCHMAN CAME BACK WELL IN THE FINAL SETS AND BROKE CURTIS' SERVICE FOUR TIMES TO TAKE THE MATCH.
