    IN SARAWAK, BRITISH AND MALAYSIAN FORCES RELENTLESSLY PATROL THE BORDER WITH INDONESIA. THIS AREA IS ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT PLACES IN THE WORLD TO PATROL AND THERE IS AN EVER PRESENT PROBLEM OF SUPPLYING BORDER POSTS WITH MEN AND SUPPLIES.

    HELICOPTERS HAVE PROVED INVALUABLE IN THIS WORK. SHOWN ON OUR FILM ARE HELICOPTERS OF THE ROYAL NAVY AIR COMMANDO 845 SQUADRON. THEY ARE MOVING EXTRA TROOP REINFORCEMENTS TO THE BORDER AREA AFTER REPORTS THAT A BAND OF INFILTRATORS HAD CROSSED INTO SARAWAK FROM INDONESIA.

    THE ROYAL NAVY PILOTS HAVE EARNED TREMENDOUS PRAISE FOR THEIR SKILL AND COURAGE IN HANDLING THE HELICOPTERS, FROM ALL CONCERNED IN THE BORDER OPERATIONS, BOTH IN SARAWAK AND SABAH.

    THESE GURKHA TROOPS WERE LANDED IN A DEEP RIVER RAVINE. THE PILOT HAD TO CONTEND WITH A RIVER ON ONE SIDE OF THE CLEARING AND LARGE OVERHANGING TREES ON THE OTHER.

    THE SOLDIERS NOW FACE A LONG AN ARDUOUS PATROL IN THE JUNGLE. THE HELICOPTER RETURNS TO BASE, AND THEN ANOTHER MISSION INTO THE FORESTS.
