    UNLIKE SOME OTHER TALKS DURING THE AFRICAN TOUR, THE NIGERIAN DISCUSSIONS WILL BE HELD BEHIND CLOSED DOORS AND ITS UNLIKELY STATEMENTS OF SERIOUS NOTE WILL BE MADE TO NEWSMEN. AMERICA'S PART IN THE NIGERIAN CIVIL WAR IS LIKELY TO BE A MAJOR TOPIC.

    THE AMERICAN DIPLOMATS VISIT ISN'T BEING WELCOMED IN ALL QUARTERS THE GOVERNMENT OWNED NEWSPAPER MORNING POST LED BITTER PRESS CRITICISMS OF MR ROGERS' VISIT. ONE NEWSPAPER SAID THAT IN VIEW OF SOME OF MR ROGERS' STATEMENTS DURING THE RECENT CIVIL WAS THIS WAS NOT AN OPPORTUNE TIME FOR HIM TO BE VISITING THE COUNTRY.

    MR ROGERS FLEW IN FROM CAMEROUN ON THE EIGHT STAGE OF HIS TOUR. IN A STATEMENT AT THE AIRPORT HE SAID THAT HE EXPRESSED SORROW THAT THE VISIT WAS TO BE ONLY TWO DAYS. HE SAID THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WANTED NIGERIANS TO KNOW HOW THEY APPRECIATE THE GREAT ORDEAL THE CIVIL WAR HAD BROUGHT TO THE COUNTRY.
