  • Description

Kilauea, a giant Hawaiian volcano, erupted for the second time in less than a month, Tuesday (July 15). Lava and rock shot more than 1,000 feet into the sky. Eyewitnesses called it a creath-taking spectacule, a natural fireworks display.

The eruption on June 25th took place in the night; Tuesday was in broad daylight.

The volcano erupted the first time last year (August 22, ???). Neither of these eruptions caused any loss of life or property.

The eruptions, however are making the state of Hawaii larger. When the lava flows down Kilaues's slopes and into the sea, the lava cools and forms into a land mass.
