Background: President William Tolbert of Liberia received delegations from all over Africa for the 125th anniversary celebrations of his country's independence on July 26th. The most prominent of these representatives being president Sekou Toure of Guinea, who accompanied President Tolbert during the official ceremonies held in Sanniquellis, near the Guinea border. This is the first time the celebrations were held away from the Capital, Monrovia, as part of President Tolbert's plan to rotate the commemorative ceremonies form county to county.
Among the other delegations present were those of Zambia, Uganda, Sierra Leone and the Ivory Coast - and the African National Council of Zimbabwe (Southern Rhodesia) was represented by Bishop Abel Muzorewa.
