  • Description

Poland, fast becoming one of Europes top amateur boxing countries, is sending a team to meet England's amateurs at the Wembley stadium and at Belle Vue Manchester on November 20th and 22nd, respectively. And they're treating the matches with characteristic determination.

The Polish team will be a tough, skilful bunch: Men like Tadeuz Rozpierski, a 1957 National Champion who has won 215 of his 240 fights. Here he is training in Warsaw with team-mate Debisz and later, the tough featherweight goes home to a trophy-filled home, a charming wife and young son, Krzysztof.

Tadeusz Walasek is another National Champion - in the Light-heavyweight division, he is being trained by Karpinski.

Zbigniev Pietrzykowski is the amateur middleweight champion of Europe. He lives in Bielsko Biala - his home, too, is a private museum of medals and trophies.

Leszek Drogosz is a former European champion in the Welter division - and still considered to be one of Poland's best. He lives in Labedy, Silesia. He is seen under the guidance of trainer Zienec at the Sport Club in Labedy.
