Kokomo the Chimp has headed South away from the snow, Florida is just the place to set up in. Of cause, being a good and devoted nephew, he'll keep his uncle Dave posted as to what goes on in the Sunny South.
We can just imagine the sort of postcards he'd send.Something on the lines of..............
Dear Uncle Dave,
Drove to the edge of St. Petersburg on the bay to a place called the Doctors' Motel. I figured you had to come dressed for the occasion, so I wore my white smock and carried my little black bag. I found out later that the name has nothing to do with the medical profession, so I confined my operations to the non-surgical kind, if you know what I mean.
A sign on the door had me scared for a minute, but I told them this was an emergency and they let me in without any trouble. The bellboy fell for it like a ton of bananas.
The people who run the Motel rolled out the orange carpet for me. The carpets are never red in Florida, Dave, always orange.
First thing I noticed when I got to my room was the beautiful view of Tampa Bay from my balcony. The peaceful water...the graceful seagulls....the swaying palmtrees on the lawn leading to the beach. what a sight.
But there was plenty of work to do. I went over the scripts as I lay on my bed, they look pretty good, Dave, except for a change here and there in syntax and perhaps the elimination of a few hanging participles.
The phone kept ringing constantly. If it wasn't the producer, it was my account broker with a hot tip on the market.
Then more checking of the show for the days ahead. Tuesday in Tampa...Wednesday in Sarasota.....and Thursday and Friday at the Sportorama in St. Petersburg.
Late in the afternoon, I managed to squeeze in a few minutes of shuffleboard with Carol, a lovely blonde who took a fancy to me. Being a gentleman, Dave, I let her win. But don't tell Helen this. She might get jealous.
Then it was over to the pool to test the temperature of the water. Just right for splashing. Carol came along too. She just couldn't keep her eyes off me. And remember that Dave,I saw her first, tell every one that.
This is the life Dave. I've got a beach chair reserved for all of you on the edge of the pool. You'll just have to snap your finger and refreshment is at your elbow. The living is easy on the West coast of Florida. A fellow can get caught napping down here and nobody gets mad. They call it a Siesta. That's Spanish, uncle Dave, for a cool-off in the afternoon.
Well see you all soon.
Well that's how I imagine Kokomo would write to his uncle Dave.
