    A CALL FOR STRONGER BRITISH ACTION TO SECURE PEACE IN VIETNAM WAS VOICED TODAY (SUNDAY) AT A RALLY ORGANISED IN TRAFALGAR SQUARE BY THE COMMITTEE OF 100.SEVERAL HUNDRED PEOPLE BRAVED A STEADY DRIZZLE TO HEAR CHURCHMEN, PARLIAMENTARIANS, AND TRADE UNION LEADERS ATTACK THE USE OF AIRCRAFT AND NAPALM AND GAS IN THE VIETNAM CONFLICT.

    SPEAKERS CALLED FOR STRONGER BRITISH INITIATIVES TO BRING ABOUT A PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT IN VIETNAM.THEY ALSO CONDEMNED AMERICA'S ACTIONS IN VIETNAM WHICH, THEY SAID, WERE BASED ON THE PREMISE THAT ACTION AGAINST THE NORTH WOULD CONTINUE UNTIL THE ENEMY GAVE IN.

    AFTERWARDS, CANON COLLINS, SECRETARY OF THE COMMITTEE OF 100, LED A DEPUTATION INCLUDING A NUMBER OF PARLIAMENTARIANS TO DOWNING STREET.THEY CARRIED WITH THEM A LETTER FOR MR.WILSON, THE PRIME MINISTER, CALLING FOR MOVES TO TAKE THE VIETNAM CRISIS OFF THE BATTLEFIELD AND INTO THE CONFERENCE ROOM.
