The Khmer First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, General Sak Sutusakhan was named President of the Supreme Council ??? Republic was announced on Sunday (13 April). The Prime Minister, Long Borst, was named Vice-President.
Mr. Borst said that the ???-man directorate would replace the ??? of State, Saukhan Khoy. Mr. Khoy was stripped of his ???.
The announcements came after the former acting Head of State and 458 other Khmer nationals arrived at Utapac Airbase in Thailand.
Mr Khoy was among those evacuated from Phnom Penh: on Saturday (18 April) by U.S. helicopters to be aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Okinawa, in the Gulf of Thailand.
Upon arriving in Bangkok, Mr. Khoy said he had come to the Thai capital "to negotiate with the other side."
He also said he had asked Prince Sihanouk to return as Cambodia's Head of States. he had not yet received a replay.
Prince Sihanouk, in a statement issued in Peking on Saturday, projected a similar request from the United States. He said that he has already transferred power to his Khmer Rouge forces.
105 foreign nationals from Phnom Penh were also among those who carried at Utapac on Sunday. A large group of foreign correspondence were among the evacuees.
