    A now trade agreement between India and Czechoslovakia was signed in New Delhi, on September 30, by the Indian Director General of Foreign Trade, Mr. K. B. Lall, d the Czech Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. J. Kchout.

    The agreement, which will last for three years, provides for the patrons by either country in rupees. It replaces an earlier one which expired the same day.

    Later in the day, Shri Nguyen tan Cuu, Vice Consul-General of the Vietnam Legation, presented a 'thousand-handed' statue of Buddah and two paintings to the Indian Government and the Lalit Kala Akademi, respectively, at a formal ceremony organised by the Department of Cultural Activities and Physical Education in the National Museum.

    The function was attended by officials of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research and the following members of the Vietnam Legation: 1. Mr. Ngyuyan-Dai, Consul and commercial attache, 2. Mr. Tran-ngoo-Kha, secretary, 3. Mr. Hand-phon-Hoan, Cultural Officer and Mr. Lu-Ghan of the Vietnam News Agency.

    The statue and the two Buddhist paintings are replicas of the Buddhist relics which have been preserved by the people of Vietnam. The original of the statue was set in the But-Thap Pagoda, Bac-Hinh province, Northern Viet-nam.
