    The Deputy Prime Minister of South Vietnam, General Tran Van Don, who is in Liberia on an official visit, went to the Executive Mansion in the capital, Monrovia, during his stay to present President William R. Tolbert with a special communication from his Government.

    He was accompanied by the Liberian Foreign Minister, Mr. C. Cecil Dennis Jnr., and the South Vietnamese Ambassador to Liberia. General Don briefed the President on the worsening military situation in South Vietnam, and expressed the hope that President Tolbert would help in bringing peace to that war-torn country.

    General Don had arrived in Liberia the previous night (Wednesday 26 March), together with a special representative of President Nguyen Van Thieu.

    During his meeting with President Tolbert, the Deputy Prime Minister admitted the President into the Special Class Order of Kim Khanh, the highest honorary order in South Vietnam. He also presented the President with a gift from President Thieu.

    In response, President Tolbert told the Deputy Prime Minister that he was even more determined and committed to pursuing his crusade for peace. He asked General Don to convey his deepest appreciation to President Thieu for wanting to consult him during his current problems. General Don also presented President Tolbert with an invitation to visit South Vietnam.
