  • Description

Shots to Teherain; correspondent speaks into camera on the launch; views of port and sea; PAN over Soviet ships; PAN of port; various view of Enzeli port and sea; port manager speaking (sync.); governor-general speaking (sync).

    - The Caspian Sea... It washes the shores of the two neighbouring countries, the Soviet Union and Iran.

The port Enzeli is of special importance for new Iran at the time when some western countries introduced an economic blockade and economic sanctions against the young republic. In Enzeli port the peaceful and friendly cooperation between the Soviet people and Iranians is vividly demonstrated. These workers are unloading the cargo brought to Iran by Soviet ships.

The bulk of an Iranian transit trade is processed via this port. Four Soviet shipping companies are doing the work. The necessary goods for Iran are being shipped from many countries in Soviet ships.

Speaks Mr. F. Anssary, the Enzeli port manager:

    - The Iranian people are repulsing the blackmail and threats of imperialist powers. We are trying hard to deal with the economic difficulties. Iran wants to develop equal business cooperation with all the countries, in particular with out northern neighbour , the Soviet Union. We are interested in expanding the trade exchange, including the transit trade. And therefore we decided to increase the flow of traffic in and out of out port. This problem has been recently discussed at the Soviet-Iranian navigation conference. We consider that the conference was successful. Even to-day the port handles twice as much cargo that usual.

And here is the opinion of governer-general of the Northern Iranian province Gilyan Ali Achave in Anssari:

    - After the victory of the revolution in Iran Imperialist countries and their allies have been doing all they can to suppress it. Even before they introduced the economic boycott the imperialists had initiated subversive ocations against Iran with the help of their agents within the country.

Fortunately, we can receive very many required goods, brought by Iran in other countries, from the friendly Soviet country situated in the North of Iran.

The Iranian people are ready to defend their freedom at the cost of any hardships.

Thanks to the cooperation with the Soviet Union we can alleviate the burden of the imperialist economic blockade by receiving goods from East European countries and directly from the Soviet Union.

In this connection the port Enzeli on the Caspian seashore is of great importance to us as it handles a considerable portion of the cargo which arrives from the USSR or by transit
