  • Description

One of winter's annoyances for americans who live in the north and the northeastern states is having to go out early on a cold morning and scrape the frost off the car windshield and the other windows in near zero or sub-zero temperatures. For years there have been electric heating coils that you plug into the radiator to keep it and the engine-block water at about 60 degrees over night. But now, an inventor in Louisville, Kentucky, has come up with a new device, fitted on the dashboard and linked to a propane gas tank in the rear trunk, that does the job of defrosting the windows and heating the interior of the car. All the owner has to do is to flick a timing switch which sets off the heater at the desired hour before dawn. The device costs about $150 to $175 to install. Its operating coast is 3 1/2 to 4 cents an hour.
