    MR. NIXON, WHO IS IN SAIGON ON A BUSINESS TRIP, ADDED THAT THE UNITED STATES COULD NOT AFFORD ANY FURTHER COMPROMISE OR NEUTRALISATION IN ANY PART OF THE WORLD SINCE "WE ARE NOW AT A CRITICAL TURNING POINT, PARTICULARLY IN SOUTHEAST ASIA."
    HE SAID THAT ANY WEAKNESS FROM THE FREE WORLD AND THE AMERICANS WOULD BE INTERPRETED BY THE COUNTRIES IN THIS AREA AS A SORT OF WITHDRAWAL. THE UNITED STATES POLICY HERE AND THROUGHOUT THE WORLD WAS TO STAND FIRM AND TO PRESENT A CONSISTENT FACE TO THE COMMUNISTS.

    DURING HIS STAY, HE WILL CONFER WITH THE UNITED STATES AMBASSADOR TO SOUTH VIETNAM, MR. HENRY CABOT LODGE, AND VIETNAMESE FRIENDS MADE WHEN HE VISITED THE COUNTRY IN 1953 AND 1956. MR. NIXON IS SCHEDULED TO GO TO MANILA, TAIWAN AND HONGKONG AFTER HIS SAIGON VISIT.
