    West German Economic Minister Ludwig Erhard - at the head of a German trade delegation - arrived in Cairo Jan.24 for talks with President Nasser on assisting United Arab Republic development projects.

    At Cairo Airport, he was greeted by his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Abdul El-Kaissuny; West German Ambassador Walter Weber; and U.A.R. Vice-President Abdul El-Boghdadi.

    The main subject of discussion: means to increase West German purchases for Egyptian goods, particularly cotton, in a bid to overcome the unfavourable trade terms of recent years.

    Another reported topic was of West Germany's interest in helping to finance the Aswan High Dam project.

    From Cairo, Professor Erhard will go to Damascus, Syria. On Jan.31 he will leave fir Luxor, the ancient Egyptian city, before flying to Khartoum for a four-day visit to the Sudan.
