    In Brazzaville in the People's Republic of the Congo, sentences are swatted on a number of people involved in the Diawara case.

    The case is named after former Lieutenant Ange Diawara who was already accused of leading an abortive coup against President Marian Ngouabi last year.

    President Ngouabi now says another plot to overthrow him was uncovered recently.

    In all five French technical assistants, two of them women, and a number of Africans have been arrested and accused of being involved in the plot. The Africans include the congolese Information Minister, M. Sylvain Bemba, and former Prime Minister, Dr. Patric Lissouba.

    The Congolese Revolutionary Court of Justice was completely reshuffled soon after the discovery of the plot was announced. The President of the now court is M. Henri Lopes who's responsible for Cultural Affairs in the Congolese Politburo and its members include M. Pierre Nze who sits as a government commissioner.

    Only four of the French technical assistants have been tried so far. The other is still waiting for his case to be heard. Those who are awaiting the court's decision are Miles Paule-Francoise Fioux and Paule Marie-Mathilde Deville and Mm Bernard-Jean Boissay and Bernard Querriex.

    SYNOPSIS: The Congolese Revolutionary Court of Justice was completely reshuffled soon after the plot's discovery was announced. The defence will now address their pleas to a new 15-man body.

    It's described by President Ngouabi as a revolutionary court with very advanced ideological standards.

    The case is named after former Lieutenant Ange Diawara who had already been accused of leading an abortive coup last year.

    The French accused have talked freely according to statements made outside the court by a government commissioner.

    Their lawyers' pleas are made to a court which he's also said must separate their cases from those of the Congolese accused.

    The court has still to hear the case of another French technical assistant who's been arrested in connection with the plot allegations.
