Background: Gabon's President Albert Berhard Bongo recently opened a radio station at Melene, eight miles (13 kms) from Livreville.
The opening was also attended by M. Yvon Bourges, Secretary of State to the French Foreign Ministry in charge of co-operation.
The station is an important new link in Gabon's communications network and will provide an essential new service to all Gabonese. It will carry news bulletins as well as music and drama programmes.
