Background: England's batsmen Pullar, and Allen took the overnight score of 18 runs for one wicket to 69 runs for two when they opened the fifth days play in the fifth test match against the West Indies at Port of Spain, Mar 30.
Pullar went out to Sobers, just before lunch. Later Allen was run out for 25. Dexter looked to be on his recent good form and was well on the way to another century when he too was run out for 47 runs.
West Indian bowler Ramadhin, took the wicket of the English vice captain Subba Row, when he trapped him leg-before-wicket for 13 runs. Sobers again came into the attack to take Barrington's wicket for only six runs.
Parks and Smith managed to steady the collapse and although the fielding was tight and most of the bowling was on a good length these two managed to hold out until the end of the day.
At close of play the English score was 238 runs for six wickets, Smith 35 runs, Parks 55.
