  • Description

President Kamazu Banda of Malawi flew into Nairobi yesterday (Friday) for a brief on his way home from Britain. The Malawi President, who had been a private visit to britain, was greeted at the Airport by President Jomo Kenyatta.

After President Banda had been met by the kenyan Leader and members of the Kenya Cabinet, he told an airport press conference that he was quite indifferent to threats to expel Malawi from the Organisation for African Unity (OAU) as a result of his attitude towards South Africa.

He said he had deliberately invited South Africa's Prime Minister John Vorster to Malawi. He was as strong a nationalist as any other African Leader, and very much against Apartheid. But he was convinced that the problem of Apartheid could not be solves by isolation and threats from afar.

The Malawi Leader stressed that this invitation to Mr. Vorster had afforded him an opportunity of discovering what the South African Premier had in mind. Dr.Banda, however, refused to reveal what they had discussed.
