    AN EXHIBITION, STAGED TO FOCUS ATTENTION ON THE PLIGHT OF JORDANIAN ARAB REFUGEES IN ISRAEL, HAS OPENED IN LONDON.

    CENTRE PIECE OF THE EXHIBITION STAGED OUTSIDE THE CHURCH OF ST. MARTIN'S-IN-THE-FIELD IN LONDON'S TRAFALGAR SQUARE, IS A GROUP OF SHABBY TENTS, A MOCKUP OF A REFUGEE CAMP.

    THE EXHIBITION IS TO ILLUSTRATE THE PLIGHT OF ONE AND A HALF MILLION ARABS WHO ARE THE VICTIMS OF THE ARAB-ISRAEL WARS. IT WAS OPENED BY MR. RAUHI KHATIB, A FORMER MAYOR OF THE ARAB SECTOR OF JERUSALEM. HE WAS EXPELLED FROM THE CITY IN MARCH AND NOW LIVES IN AMMAN.

    MR. ISMAIL MOHAMED ISMAIL CAME TO LONDON WITH HIS TWO SONS AGED 15 AND 13. THEIR FATHER HAS BEEN LIVING IN A REFUGEE CAMP TENT SINCE 1948. HE STOOD BY AN EXHIBIT WHICH SHOWED HIS MONTHLY RATIONS FROM THE UNITED NATIONS - BAGS OF FLOUR, BEANS, SUGAR, RICE, A JAR OF OIL AND CAKE OF SOAP.

    ELSEWHERE IN THE EXHIBITION ARE PHOTOGRAPHS AND PAINTING WHICH DEPICT THE FLIGHT OF THE REFUGEES.
